Bad door ding

So I was at a movie last night and sitting in my car waiting for the car pulling up next to me on the left to get in their spot so I could open my door and get out, when the little girl in the rear passenger seat throws open her door smacking right into my left rear passenger door. It shook my car... needless to say there was a sizable dent and possibly paint chipped or scratched, I haven't rubbed it out yet to see. It's right on the crease of the door too, which I assume will be harder to fix.

Now the mom (driver) gave me her phone number and I gave her mine, and she said that her dad owns a body shop so I can just get it fixed there for free. I can't call until monday because it's her "work" number. But if she falls through how much am I going to fork out to get this puppy fixed? The exterior was almost perfect before this and it just really makes me mad to have a huge dent. (well the size of a 50c piece anyway) Especially in the driver side where I see it ever time I walk up to my car!

Has anyone ever had experience with those scratch and dent places? Is that even worth trying... what are my options for getting it fixed is my question.

Thanks everyone,

-A bruised but not broken protege owner

I wouldn't have accepted her phone number....it could very well be a fake. If someone damages my car (in ANY fashion) they are waiting at the scene until the police arrive to take a report.

I hate to say it but I don't see your car getting fixed unless you pay to get it done. I just don't see anymore decent people out there.....

p.s. for any future problems you have a police report is the ONLY way to gaurantee you will get the proper compensation.

Yeah you should have atleast gotten her insurance info. I had a lady hit me last summer and she was in a "hurry" but I said look I'm late for work too, so as soon as I get your info we can be on our way. I got all her insurance info plus her work phone #. She was pretty cool about it all. She paid for it out of pocket and we both signed papers stating what happened and how we were going to fix it.

As for the dent places it's hit and miss some are good while others blow.

I'd ask around, talk to people and see what they say. I know Matt is anti dealership, but typically. they know of good dentless auto body shops. Mine got a ding, I had the dealership tell me who they used, and I went there, and I can't even see it. This considering it was on the fender at the crown by the hoodline, where its near impossible to get a crease out. No drilling or anything.... And I can't even find it unless I get real close and look for it....

Check around... BTW.. I paid 40 to have mine done....
