Baby's New Shoes

New rollers on the 5 and the handling's outrageous! Mounted a set of
17" ADR Battle EXEs picked off e-bay for $380 from Anthony Nguyen
at GT Sports. Terrific deal and a great transaction.

Mounted a set of 205/40 Goodyear F1 GS-D3 gumballs and they are tight!
Entering and exit speed in corners up 10 mph+. Turn-in's razor sharp
(35# pressure), no tramlining and quiet, quiet for a max performance tire.

However, going from a 50 aspect sidewall to a 40 brings more care.
Gotta watch even shallowest potholes. At speed, tire compression
might just dent a rim. A coupla hard whacks remind you that just
10mm difference in height is big.

Dunno how these gumballs are gonna wear--I'm driving the 5 harder
than ever into the corners and grinning like an idiot--but I know they
won't last like the stock Dunlops. Not too concerned because they're
my warm weather shooz. Biggest and only problem I see--they're pricey,
but worth it! If the 5 was a slot car before, it's locked on rails now.

Now all I gotta do is drop in the Eibachs. :D

sounds awesome....I went from my mp3 17" with a 45series tire to my stocker P5 16" with a huge sidewall and I get a little bead of sweat everytime I push a corner a little harder than normal. I can feel the sidewall squish and I hate that feeling.

A 40 series sidewall is going to make you grip like you're on rails....you're also going to feel every little bump in the road....I prefer to think of it as being "communicative" rather than "bumpy"!

post some pics when you can. $380 for those wheels sounds great. How much was shipping?

$89. Still makes 'em less than $125/ea. They list for $187.

Agree w/Cruiser. Gotta get some pix and post. Hafta be a coupla weex. Leaving for the Carib tomorrow to soak up some rays and a lotta rum. Do some water stuff and my S.O., as well. :yumyum:

21#! That's one frickin' heavy wheel! I think that's why I haven't gotton bigger rims yet. If I'm going to up in size to a 17, I want it to wiegh less that the stock size.

i have fatty-ass 17s on my ride...but she doesn't seem to mind too much while sliding around the corners! :)
