Auto Insurance

It is kind of hard for anyone to say, but I just want to get a rough idea of what i Have to spend.

Not sure if anyone is from Ontario, but if anyone knows how much auto insurance is, signing up as a second driver on the car that is, then please help me out.

The car i am going to use is a Mazda Protege, year 2000.

I just need to know rough estimates.

If this helps...

the car doesnt have any problems

colour of the car is silver (anyone who thought this was wierd to say, its just that i know red cars are a bit more expensive for insurance, not sure if that apply's everywhere)

Thanks to anyone that can help.

lol you will laugh but , i pay nothing,
the car is under my mothers name she pays 1200 a year with standard stuff and low deducibles and adding me as a second driver has resulted in no change in premium.

I am 25 so i guess thats why there is no change, but before this, techincally I was not insured lol technically,

But i think Ontario Car insurance is a scam and the government does little or nothing to change it. and of coures why would they, they make Billions, Government gets their cut.

What they should do is turn it into how life insurance is and create a cash reserve/cash value so that when someone isnt happy with their insurance they can packup take their cash value with them and go to another insurance company.

I mean you can go thru your entire life pay 40,000 dollars and not see a dime of it back. and even if you get into another accident your insurance goes up lol more lol sometimes , i question what is the point of having insurance if you get shafted from all sides no matter what happens

Car insurance is based on a number of different factors: age, sex, location, number of miles driven, type of car, driving record, credit record, etc. There is no one determining factor for insurance!!

Just look at my premiums:

1992 Ford Crown Victoria LX 2FACP74W7NX140805 $ 269.32

2000 Ford Focus ZX3 3FAFP3131YR203657 $ 249.88

1994 Mazda Miata MX5 JM1NA3530R0513821 $ 254.38

2002 Mazda Protege 5 JM1BJ246921596058 $ 334.80

I have multiple vehicles (plus scooter) and homeowners insurance too...

I live in Ottawa, I have a 2001 protege 1.6L 48K on it, I think it was off lease. Im 25 and pay (so far) 824$ a year for my insurance. Im with Dominion Car insurance. My folks have their insurance with them too so dunno if they managed to work something out for me for the car.

I deal with West and Associates, and I'm insuring a 2002 red Protege ES with full coverage, and I'm paying 302/m. And I'm only 20 and it's the first time I've even been insured.

I guess Alberta's rates are better. Check www.kanetix.ca for some rates, they're OK to get a general idea.
