Am I running too hot?
Hey there. I got my P5 about 3 weeks ago and had a question about the temperature gauge. Once the engine warms up the gauge stays just below 50%. It never goes above this, but my Wife showed concern as her Saturn operates at around 25%. I said it was due to the difference in manufacturer/thermostat/gauge etc. but I wanted to check with you guys. Where does the needle on your gauge typically sit?
Oh, and another quick question. Occasionally at around 30-40 mph I get this noticeable resonant whirring sound, almost like a bearing is going out. The car is a 2003 with Tiptronic transmission and 20k on the clock. Any ideas? Cheers |
that's normal. right under 50%.

mine is always right around 50% as well so that's normal.
if it's more than that, then something is wrong. |
Agreed. Also My Saturn runs about 25% too. Saturns just run that way. Those guages are not really giving real info, just remember where it usually stays and you'll know to worry if it suddenly changes.

And the 'whirring sound' is it only when you let go of the gas and then it goes away as soon as you hit the gas even a little bit?
Let me know - i have the same noise. |
