Is there any system that I can install by myself on P5?

I went and got a Rattler system from Circuit City and installed it myself at home. Its not too hard.

I recently had an alarm put in my ES and I'm gonna tell you what I found out. Spoke to a number of people (both in person and on different boards) and almost everyone said - "It's not the alarm, it's the installer that'll make the difference".

If you have lots of time on your hands and know exactly what you are doing, go for it. But after watching the guy put the alarm on in my car and the effort he took to make it look all factory and hidden, I know that it would have taken me 3 times as long and I still won't have done as good a job.

I'd check up and see if you can find a good installer in your area. I was lucky to have one guy that came highly recommended by a number of people (on a different board) and drove almost an hr to his place to get the alarm done.

It also depends on the complexity of the system you want. mines simple, but I have the option to add button start and such
It took me a few hours and you cant tell its there, but then again I love to mess with wires and stuff like this. Its something I do all the time. I had to get wiring diagrams for my car and the guys at circuit city gave me their print out on the proege which tells you what wires to use

get a professional to install it. They know what they are doing and if they mess up you can always sue them if you car gets stolen because thier install sucked.

Get a pro to do it. ITS THEFT PROTECTION. If you fuck up your car might still get stolen then the whole kit would of been worthless, plus a car alarm installed by a pro shoul d have a good impact on your insurance

Im a mobile installer and if your not confident 100% then you do not need to be tampering with wires I know where I work you can an alarm installed for about 125.00. so its worth the money to just let a pro do it.

the best theif deterent system is one that is not cookie cutter....if you want to make it really hard to defeat you have to install it in a unique way.....ie. throw in a fuel pump kill switch or hide the brain in some weird place like the trunk (like i did). Most installers get paid by the job even through they are "professionals" they wont' do this. Some don't even solder the wires...even though it took me forever to install my alarm I know that I did a good job and I don't have to worry about someone rushing to finish off the job so they can work on the next job......if your not comfortable doing this don't do it.......but if you have the time why not try it. if it doesn't work then get someone else to install it.......i found installing my own alarm was a big learning experience.

I know i the shop i work at I get paid by the hour not the job so i take my time and make my alarms imposible to get through for some one to defeat it and some shops dont solder i.e. best buy,
but if you ask the shop theyll tell you and if they dont you dont want to go there. i solder every alarm i do and i dare you to find my brains.

yeah I wasn't trying to put down car installers, but the work i have had done on my car in the past didn't live up to my expectations....and this was from reputable places. It's only human nature to be more careful in something that you have a vested interest in.....Although if someone put the effort into soldering the wires on an alarm then I would think I would have had it install there.....although for all the changes I had made to my alarm it would have been cost prohibitive for me to get it done somewhere.........still i think that's it's worth the effort if you have the time to install it yourself... just make sure you can turn to someone if you run into some problems.

on a protege you could probably get by putting it in yourself if you had a walk through on them. i know i did my car was the first alrm i ever did and it was easy as fuck.

im wouldnt worry about anyone stealing ur car,but anyways the maz factory alarm is obviously going to be the best option, if it wasnt port installed on your car you can buy one ,the entire kit, which anyone who knows what they are doing can easily install

Theres nothing wrong with the alarm you have on the car its nice.
