aftermarket tranny

first off i searched the forums(thats usually someones first comment) but since nobody calls a transmission a transmission anymore, nothing really popped up. i tried tranny and transmission. i am about to crank out serious amounts of horsepower from my P5 and i have been told that the transmission will only hold 350hp. does anyone know where to find a new one with maybe an upgraded gear set and shift fork(since those are the things that seem to give most in our cars). traction is not an issue before someone throws a comment out there about not hooking up. anybody got any ideas??? maybe a p5 trans. from roger foo's race car J/k. :mach:

I would contact "Sunbelt Performance" in Atlanta, GA. They build Tripoint's engines. You may also try Tripoint Engineering. See what they use. I do believe though that their motors only make about 250hp NA.

Good luck, let us know what you end up doing so we can compile your info for others who follow you. (maybe me)

the tri point guys run the newer 2.3l tranny, I've seen 12.5 ( in the 1/4)out of a stock protege tranny , when you get past that this is what the big boys run

very nice info. Chris, do you know if that tranny is a direct replacement for the Protege's or does the "modifying" they are refering to have to do with beefing it up for excessive racing?

yea we had a guy looking into the auto tranny but he did'nt step up, it fits a focus for sure and 'm sure it could be made to fit a pro'
