AC died
My AC died last night driving home on the highway. I have 39K on my 2000 ES and I'm not happy. 39K the AC should NOT brake. Any ideas.

died completly?
damn man. i dunno about that. that doesn't sound right. i just recently got my car out the shop because the A/C was blowing hot air when you were idle at a stop light. it only blew cool when you were moving. i got that fixed, it was low on freon.
id unno what to tell you. is that something covered under warranty? |
warranty was untill 36K
|
Here in Mississippi a Mazda warranty is for 3 years or 50000 miles. It should be the same there so you're covered.
Don't feel too bad....on my 95 Impreza I bought new, the A/C failed within the 36000 mile warranty and again at 50000 miles. Tyson |
The new AC units don't use freon.
I was told (by somebody here at PClub) that the only way it would be low is if there was a leak in the system. |
well, actually.
he said there was an air pocket in the A/C system. he got rid of the air pocket and the problem was fixed.

I think that the compressor is shot. it makes a bad sound.
|
damn man
that really sucks. in the middle of summer too.
i got 43k on my 2000 es and the AC is fine witht he exception of that air pocket. but i wrecked teh whole front end. that the only reason why my ac was not workign right. something dont sound right. my friend has a pro and his a/c works fine. you might of had a defect. |
Your car is still under warranty, right? Yeah it sucks, but get it fixed ASAP so you don't have to worry about it later.

D'oh :(
Have you taken it in anywhere to get a quote? |
change in warrenty milage?
You say the warrenty expired at 36k. The new ones come w/ 3 years or 50k. Has this been a recent change, or is the AC only covered until 36k?

Mine is a 2000 it had a 3 year/ 36,000
and no I haven't had a quote done yet. |
Find a Good Dealer
One two separate occassions with cars from different manufacturers, I had something major break down on the car just after the warranty expired. In both cases, I was able to find a dealer who would do the work under warranty.
Go to the dealer, and if he says it's out of warranty, say "Well, the truth is, it's been acting up for about 5000 miles and I haven't had a chance to get it in for you to look at." If that doesn't work go for another dealer. I think you'll be suprised. Now this obviously doesn't work if you're like 20,000 miles over, but with 39,000 over 36k, you are still very close. |
