99 Pro DX Spark knock

Hey,

I was just wondering, from what I read in other Posts, is slight spark knock normal for our cars? I have used fuel system cleaner and 89 Octane and the Pinging goes away. When I use 87 Octane the pinging comes back. Its only when the car is warm and when I am going up a hill or something like that. The car has 76k on it and had a major Mazda service at 60k which the Spark plugs were replaced. I have heard that there may be carbon build up, but how do you clean it? Any info on this would help..

Thanks

carbon build-up will contribute to spark knock. to clean carbon build-up, you have to remove the head. not something for the shady mechanic to try.

SPARK KNOCK

YOU COULD TRY A FORCED INDUCTION CLEAN. SOME SHOPS DO HAVE A SYSTEM THAT WILL FORCE A CHEMICAL INTO THE INDUTION SYSTEM TO CLEAN UP CARBON DEPOSITS. "BG" IS A BRAND NAME OF A TYPE OF CLEANER TO USE.
