99 child seat anchor kit?
Howdy all,
The TSB section of the FAQ says that there's a Mazda factory kit to add anchors for child seat tethers to a 99 Protege, but the TSB doesn't contain the part number- it says to refer to Parts Flash No. RF-00-11, dated April 7th, 2000. Does anyone out there have access to this parts flash and the part number? Thanx in advance! |
i believe that you ahve to order the whole enw rear deck peice to get hte child seat anchors. b/c i ahd a 99 pro and then got a 00 and hte 00 had the anchors built into the rear deck lid. so. that is what i would think you would have to do . try a junk yard and see if you can finda deck lid off a junked pro.

I haven't looked at a 99 Mazda Protege rear deck specifically but all the cars I have seen from around the same vintage have holes pre-drilled for child seat tethers.

99 Proteges don't have factory anchors. The 2000 models have anchors that sit on top of the same rear package shelf as the 99; the 01+ cars have a redesigned package shelf with the anchors built in.
I have considered pulling the anchors from a junked 2000 model, but I really don't want to go to the trouble of hunting down a 2000 ES in a junkyard and taking it apart if I can just buy a kit from Mazda for a reasonable price. :) |
i opened up my anchor kit that came in a plastic bag but no part numbers were listed anywhere on the bolts/anchor or on the instruction sheet ... sorry !
and yeah, i drive a 1999 1.8L. |
Dont waste your time on this mod.
My 2000 ES tether anchors are a joke! I was surprised mazda would stoop this low. They consist of a bunch of washers/spacers and a bolt. I mean a LOT of washers, like you use when you have to make something work right but dont have the correct hardware to do it properly? |
