30K miles service on my P5
I'm getting close to 30K miles service of my P5.
Can you help and answer a few questions? I don't want to take it to the dealer, very high cost and not really sure about the work quality (around $500 wit tax) I do drive my P5 the way it asks to be driven, taking advantage of it's great handling/steering/braking. My rotors are begining to show some wear (not as linear and some vibration when braking hard at high speed), pads are about 70% done in front and 50% done in the rear) Any rotors/pads recommendations? I want to : 1. Do a full tranny service (Automagic) I want to use Mobil1 ATF full synthetic tranny fluid. 2. Use Mobil1 ATF as my power steering fluid, flush it etc. 3. Use Valvoline Synthetic brake fluid DOT3/4 compatibile, flush it 4. Change spark plugs to NGK iridiums Should I check my A/C system (here in Florida we use it most of the time)? What else would you service at 30K miles? What do you thing about my choices? |
Check your Owner's Manual for a complete chart of regular maintenance. The list should also give you some ideas in case you forgot anything else you had been meaning to fix/inspect. And for just the fluids you mentioned and the brake work...your dealer wanted $500? Ouch...

yeah my dealer was at $470 = taxes and all fluids used would be standard Mazda fluids.
I will have my mechanic do the work for half of the dealer's price. I will do it partialy, starting with tranny service and spark plugs and after a month I'll do brakes fluid and power steering flush. Hopefully I can turn my rotors, buy new pads and it will last another 15K miles before I'll have to buy new rotors. |
