Timing belt - caution

I just completed changing the timing belt and water pump on a 2002 PR5. The job was tedious but not impossible; however, I have a word of warning - be very careful with the valve cover. It has small gromets and metal spacers for each bolt. I suggest you take them all off before removing the cover. Some of mine came off by themselves. Lord knows where they'll go especially if you've pulled your plugs first (don't). It could cost you a major engine job if they go in the wrong place, and you don't know it.

The set bolt on my power steering pump froze. You can remove that bracket. I cut 2/3 of the old belt off and slipped on the new one; however, the two aligning marks weren't exactly on. The exhaust was just a tad behind. It might drive someone crazy if they thought they had to be exact. Check how it is before you take the old one off. That's it.
