2002 Es Sedan Dyno

Hey guys i'm getting my car dynoed this weekend and wanted to know if there's anything i need to know before i go there to make things run smoother or if there's anything i should do to get a reliable dyno reading(ie....new spark plugs or what?) I just changed my oil last week i don't know if that helps but i'll post the dyno saturday night. (Only have an Injen Cai,Magnecor spark Plugs Wires and Iridium Spark Plugs to call performance mods for now) . After that i will put on my Racing beat cat back and get it dynoed again. i also wanna get the Hyper ground wires and the outlaw thermal spacers and get each one dynoed respectively. I'll keep you guys posted.

:D

put on your stock plugs and wires 2 see if there is any change on the dyno

you mean in the same run(i'm doing 3 pulls on saturday)? That would kinda end that spark/hp debate for our engines wouldn't it:D

Are you going to post dynos here, or on your website? Keep updating the site, don't let it die!

wesleeptheylive April-3rd-2003 09:00 PM

na don't worry i'ma get working back on the site in like 2 weeks i'm just installing all the shit i bought for my car ... i'll post the pics here as well as on my site....

walight01 April-4th-2003 12:04 AM

how much is a normal price for a dyno run

wesleeptheylive April-4th-2003 07:20 AM

$70 for 3 pulls

walight01 April-4th-2003 10:31 AM

that ain't bad i guess

Well this is my dyno. Engine Mods I have are an Ingen CAI,Magnecor Spark plug Wires and denso iridium spark plugs (IK20). Best run was 108whp and best torque was 120.1 ft lbs torque. (I beleive stock is 102whp and 112 ft lbs.) The guy who did the dyno told methose erratic jumps were due to my spark plug wires(He said i was loosing spark) So i'm considering ditching the Magnecor Wires(Has 9000 miles on em) And seein if i can get some MSD wires. The dyno is in STD Horsepower. Well i'm off to install a Racing Beat Cat-Back and head back to the dyno next week. Sorry for the pictures my scanner isn't working.

"uhh whateva" Not for nothing but you sound like a pissed of Cartman..but anywayz Yeah i guess i better go and put everthing back to stock then!:the finge But seriously like i said when i get the time i will do that (probably like next month maybe) Unless someone in this part of Jersey is willing to get their 2002 stock protege dynoed at crazy horse(just to have a baseline to go by with this dyno). I'd even be willing to pay half for it.:D

Do you really think plugs and wires on a pretty new car are going to significantly affect performance? I've heard that plugs and wires on my car would be a waste (7100 miles) because the stock ones are OK for now. Is this true?

walight01 April-6th-2003 12:41 AM

looking at that dyno pic, it looks normal for a protege, with the wavyness. anways, it doesn't do any good to dyno another stock protege, every car is different and produces different power.:)

the plug/plug wires have to been to death on this board. there is no HP difference, only sometimes better idle or smoother reving, but there hasn't been sufficient dyno testing with it.

I would agree that the plugs/wires thing only makes for smoother idle etc.......... Unless you have a ragged out set that need replacing and it will decrease performance(DUH) Mazda seems to have done a pretty good job on the stock ignition and I cant see where an upgrade to it would be useful unless youre turboing....etc.....................Duncan

damn, calm down. he's right...unless you dyno YOUR car in stock config on the SAME dyno, you aren't going to know what kinds of gains you got from your mods. that's just how it is...but thanks for the info.:)

Where is crazy horse? I have a stock 2002 ES that I bought last September. I may be willing to take you up on that offer.
