2000 Protege wheel upgrades

Whats crackin Mazda maniacs? I'm planning on upgrading the wheels on my 2000 ES Protege as soon as the current tires wear out. I was wondering if anyone knows what the weight of the OE 15" wheels are, because I'm hoping to gradually make this into an autocross car, and I don't want to increase the weight. I figure 16" or 17" diameter wheels would look pretty sweet, and allow me to install better brakes. BBS, Gram Lights, and SSR are my top choices, but if anyone out there knows of better value alternatives, I'd like to know. I was also considering finding some 16" split 5 spoke wheels from the later years of the 2nd gen Miata (the bolt pattern works for the Protege). Please post if you have and ideas or info for me!

I'm sure one of the Auto-X experts will chime in but if you are planning on using the car for Auto-X I'd stick with 15s. And Miata wheels are good for this purpose.

If you like the look of the 16/17 you should just invest in street tires/wheels and buy a set of Miata wheels with some nice rubber to auto-x.
