2000 DX problems.

hi my girlfriend has a 2000 DX with about 26K on it. the check engine light came on one day so we decided to take it to a mazda dealership. they said the Cat Coverter was bad and that it needed 2 O2 sensors. wow and only 26K. so i asked how much it was and he said 1500 so we came and picked up the car without it being fixed. 1500 is a lot for a cat and 2 O2 sensors. they price the o2 sensors out at 400.00 each. WTF???? anybody know where i can get this for a lot alot alot less than this cause this deal just plain sux. my email is

andrew@nexgenimaging.com

later and thanks

I guess we can assume that your GF bought this car used? if not....isn't it still under warrentee?

Brubeck April-4th-2002 01:34 PM

Yeah, cat problems with her mileage would definately fall into the warranty/recall arena.

oh ya i forgot to mention no warranty, she bought it used.
any ideas about the price, cause it plain suks man. i'm still mad about hearing what the guy said, 1500 for 2 O2 sensors and a cat???????????????? DAMN, would you guys pay that? cause i sure as hell wouldn't.

Wouldn't those emission control items be under warranty anyway? It's been a while since I bought a used car, but I thought the US government forced the auto manufactures to take care of emissions issues up to a certain length of time?

thats what they said on rx7club.com also but i have yet to find it one the net. maybe i am searching wrong but if somebody could find it for me that would be great.

so if this is correct then the mazda dealership would have to take care of it for free right?

thanks again

call up Mazda and find out. not the dealership. they should be able to give you more info on this.

Brubeck April-4th-2002 04:57 PM

If not, I'd start calling the junkyards and find some 02 sensors out of a totalled one.

That's what I thought, thanks.
