03 MP5 for sale

Hey guys I am putting my 03 Mp5 up for sale. It kills me to sell it but I must. I have a baby due in about a week and I could really use my $365 monthly car payment, I know I got screwed on my loan. My boss gave me a 95 Subaru Legacy for free so I can save money. My car is a laser blue 03 with a cai and lowjack. It runs great, only problems are a few door dings. I was thinking about selling it for 10k, good price? I do love my car and I will miss it but I love my baby more.

How many miles on it?

Any rust?

10k would be almost a good price if it was like.. 3k miles and mint, no rust. I bought mine on Feb 2004 for 10999 with 7k miles on it, completely mint --from a dealer. Maybe I got a really good deal on it (it was some sort of holiday weekend that gave 2k off the price of any car on the lot) and I'm jaded, but I was buying a car that by production date (June 2002) wasn't even two years old yet, with single digit thousands of miles, from a dealer, with warranty, etc. Your car is twice as old, probably has significantly higher mileage, etc.

Just quickly running the numbers on an 03 with 55000 miles (just a guess, I would expect a little higher) and in 'good' condition (door dings = not excellent, hundreds of dollars of body work) they say $9400. Your number isn't too bad in that case, but I don't see them selling over 8k private seller (and haven't in a year or more).

It has 58K on it. I was getting that price off Kelly Blue Book.

and no rust

no rust.. niiice. If I had the time I'd put my car back to stock, sell it (it's a 2002.5 with 92k miles so I'd only get like 6k selling it), buy your car, and transfer my mods to it :) I'm in my fourth year of college so I barely have time to do anything fun.

I hope you find a seller quickly!

Congrats on the baby!

Thanks for the input. I guess I will post it in the mid 9k range and see how that goes.

If anyone knows about getting screwed it's this guy. I bought mine for 9k from a dealer, not mint but in good condition. (I wanted to spruce it up anyhow) but my trade it killed it all to hell. I still owed alot on it and it jacked the price up to about 13,200. Yeah, so don't feel too bad. Hope it sells dude. Also, congrats on the baby.

That may be what Blue Book says, but you might have a hard time. I've seen MP3s and MSP go for under 9k.

Not trying to bring you down, just saying.

Check edmunds.com for a more realistic estimate of your car's value.

PS Jealous--I wanna live in Boulder BADLY.

I remember Topher's MP3 going for $5500 and that car was probably worth double. I wish I would've bought that .. stupid stupid stupid!! That car was well worth twice that much!

well worth it for an enthusiast, maybe.

I know I wouldn't buy a car with any mods on it, unless I got a huge discount

Thank you guys for the help! I listed it on craigslist for $9,500 and go from there. My only hope is the rich people here in Boulder spend money like its nothing. A part of me doesnt want it to sell because I love it so much. I should just put my son to work right away to help me with the payments!

edmunds had 03 MP5's listed for $9,168. I wasn't far off.
