$825 for a 60K Service!?!?!?!?!?!
I am going to need the 60K service in about 5K so i asked my dealer today what it would run for my '99 ES auto. He comes back with a price of $825 and that includes the timing belt.
Is that what others have paid????? It seems way high to me. I had a V6 Camry and the belt service only ran about $300. I mean $825 is BMW money. What has this service coast you guys? Thanks in advance. mattsilver |
Im in Charlotte NC in the US. I do most of the work myeslf but i am not going to attempt a timing belt. I thought there may be some reason it was so high like the belt is hard to get to or something like that. I am going to do plenty of calling around before any work is done.

You mean we gotta pay for these assholes to keep our warranties valid? What kind of shit is that? I was under the impression that when you got your warranty, that these scheduled service stops or whatever was covered. A non-Mazda tech working on the car won't void your warranty. Doing a crappy job and screwing something up will. I just did the 60k service on my mothers 626 V6. I spent just under $120 which included timing belt, accessory belts, filters, spark plugs, water pump and fluids. I supplied the labor and was done by noon. Most of the dealers are a big damn ripoff. As long as you can pay attention you can do it yourself. If you are fairly new at this, get the service manual. They have a good amount of detail. Get a buddy over there to help that has some experience too. You are most likely going to own cars the rest of your life. May as well know how to work on them. But if you must take it to someone else, definately shop around. If you want to go to the dealer, it can't hurt to give estimates of other shops and see if they will match prices. Maintenance services can be big profit makers for them. They will sometimes cut a few dollars to keep the business.
