#$%&! Cupholders

I just dumped a whole cup of coffee into my interior on the way to work!!

I have a '01 Pro ES sedan, with the shallow cupholders.

Has anyone found a particullarly well-suited coffee cup for our crappy cupholders?

OR

Has anyone found any sort of extender-device which works well?

I don't want this to happen again!!

(I know, I could just stop drinking coffee in my car...)

Thanks,
Eric

Those cupholders are the worst I've ever seen, especially for larger cups, as foxy mentioned. It's especially difficult to try to drive a manual and hold the drink steady at the same time, heh. The only solution that I've come up with is to put the cup in the little storage compartment behind the E-brake; it holds the large ones perfectly (This is assuming that the '01 ES has that compartment).

You're Right

Indeed you're right, the cup holders in the '01 sucks ass. You think a cup of coffee sucks, try dumping a 32 ounce Pepsi! That *really* pissed me off, suffice to say...

The poor design of the cup holders is why Mazda changed it for the 2002.5 onward.

Huh? It is NO BETTER for 02.5 - still shallow & narrow :(

You just don't have a door hiding it...

I don't know what it would take to find it in here...but a while back ( a month or so) someone posted a thread where they found a specific stainless steal insulated coffee mug with a top that fit in our cup holders PERFECTLY....i now wish I had written it down...but the simple fact is that I didn't because I don't drink in my car....nor does anyone else. to me all that thing is, is a large covered coin tray. HOWEVER.....the info is buried in a thread here somewhere....

I don't think so, my P5 2.5 are deep and are likely the best cupholders I have experienced. the only downside is the passenger side when used, blocks the radar detector power outlet
