is it worth getting the intake maniflod...
extrude and honed??? I don't know if it would be worth detting it done or just buying the jspec intake manifold. any opitions?

Im suprised TheMan hasnt posted here yet. I havent seen a thread like this either. I myself am in the process of looking for an FS-ZE intake manifold and getting that P&P (stage III depending on streetablility). IMO the stock intake manifold isnt worth it to get work done on it.

Why not just take the stock intake manifold, remove the tumble valves off the bottom and then "knife-edge" the valves that lead to the "high rpm" pathway and possibly even remove some material from the shaft for the high rpm valves. This would atleast make for less restriction in the intake. If you do ANY type of porting/extrude honing/polishing you might have problems with the valves that lead to the high rpm pathway not having the proper seal anymore. This added turbulence would probably cause low rpm power to suffer a bit.
(Note- I am NOT talking about valves in the head but in the intake manifold.) |
ok, my buddy had this done to his neon and it picked up 15 FWHP but his manifold design is completely different than mine

Yeah I used to own an ACR and the having it done to the DOHC engine gave great gains. The stock intake manifolds on, from what I remember, where very restrictive (Hell the cast had points long enough to cut you on some of the runners, I would imagine the inside was the same). I don't think the FS's is nearly as bad.
