what damages are caused by mis shifting?
 

what damages can be caused when I mis-shift? ie. like when u shift between gears but just as your are about to engage into the next gear the clutch is already out past the friction point and then causing a loud ugly grinding sound...
do u guys know what I mean? will it ruin the gearbox a lot ??

cause its probably happend like maybe 3 times since I first got the car....
u know ... sometimes something happens... like some other driver does something really stupid at the intersection while u are crossing it, then causing u to respond quickly and sometimes u are hurried with your actions... then GRRRR.... mis shift...

I know what tttP5 is talking about. s/he isn't trying to cheat on the clutching, but it does happen sometimes. 3 or 4 times to me since I got it.

The whole shift process occurs in a simultaneous process. You're already lifting up some on the clutch as you get the gear into place. Unless you're being very ponderous with shifting... Clutch, disengage gear, engage next gear, lift clutch. More often it's all happening at once. Sure you try to be careful not to grind gears but there is such a thing as over-thinking driving.

yup its happened to me a couple of times....

I don't do it anymore...but i used to do it about a year to 2 years ago...

My friend always does it when we race.....we race in his Ford Probe GT...normally I would take a run against the guy we are racing in his probe...and i would win...then he would take a run against the guy...and he would lose cuz he always mis shifts 2nd gear...and grinds....and does it like 3 times before he can get it into gear...

its funny cuz after we race the guy...they always like.. I didn't know Chas (me) was gonna race...blah blah...whine whine....its like my whole schoool already knows I'm a crazy as driver...doing some Mad qwik shifting yo!! :D
