Warranty Question - Transmission Fluid

Hi all, I am kinda new here, been lurking for a while but never got around to posting. Of course, now I have a question. I have a 2003 P5 with about 82K KM on it (51K Miles).

I know that I changed the auto transmission fluid a little late (about 10K KM late) and now, about a year later, my transmission is behaving funny. When I accelarate in first the engine revs normally up to 3,500 RPM and then just takes off to about 5,000 RPM before shifting to second. This is not normal, it is reving from 3,500 as if the transmission is disengaged. I am a little worried. This just started last night and on the way to work today. Has this happened to others?

My worry is that if I take it to the stealership, they will tell me that my transmission is not warrantied because I changed the fluid late. Is this going to happen?

I am going to check the fluid level tonight at home but wanted to get some advice while I am at work.

Great site.

sounds like it to me but even at 50K miles you're not HORRIBLY endangering anything....

I wouldn't expect azda to warranty it. Just take it to your local tranny specialist and see what they say is wrong with it first...

how is Mazda or anyone else gonna know when you changed the fluid?

unless he had it done at the stealership

if you take your car into the dealership at 50K miles with a locked up motor they're going to want to see the record that you've taken care of the maintaince required....same goes with the tranny. You can't just ignore maintaince and expect them to pay to fix everything.

Mazda will want to see proof that I have done the required maintenance when I take the car in with a problem.

How much tolerance do you think Mazda would give in terms of kilometer overages on the maintenance schedule?
