i'm thinking about putting a pulley, short ram intake, cams, and a shorrt throw shifter on my protege. Most of the stuff is from corksport, the rest is from options auto. if i can add right the total of it all comes out to be less than $700. do u think these are good first mods. any other sugestions on what to get for my car would be great, i don't have to much to spend on it. also are these sites good places to order stuff from?

your mods sound great, but dont use corksport. you can get the parts cheaper and better customer service at www.srmotorsports.com

can i put 2.0L cams on my 1.8L motor? would they work?also i found corksport was cheaper on must things

corksport has to be the most expensive supplier I've seen...saying that:

I would recommend relacing your entire exhaust and intake BEFORE doing anything else. Once those are both done cams would be the next choice (but not the stupid j-spec cams). Wagner Motorsports has a set of stage 2 NA cams and RACE NA cams available for $450 that are ACTUAL performance cams. Mine are on the way as we speak and should be installed by this weekend if all goes well. I am not quoting power gains, but I know about what to expect. I'd guess 20-30whp would be safe to say. Even more once you have a good header and intake.

Cams will be for sale starting next week. I'm going to try to organize a GB for those interested.

count me in on the gb, also when i go to wadner's website it doesn't show the cams, its only shows like 15 produsts am i at the wrong site?

Roddimus Prime April-5th-2004 09:16 AM

no the site is just not updated very regularly. also as I mentioned earlier the cams are still about a week or so away. go to the Vendor/GB section if you would like to continue discussing this. Let's not threadjack here!
