Turbo or engine upgrade?

Sup guys,

I'm not sure which route to go with my 2001 MP3. Do I wait for a turbo kit to come out and go that route? Or do I build the engine up-headers-head work? So far I only have the Injen intake but I love it. I plan on going to exhaust next, and then I will have to make the decision on which way to go.

Of course a turbo is more fun, but at the same time if PSI levels are messed with too much it can also cause a lot of headaches.

Any advice would be much apreciated. Also, in my case what exhaust would be the best quality?

thanks,
Scott

hello there...and welcome to the board.....

I guess it all boils down to how much cash you have to spend on your ride....or are willing to.

Like the sign in the speed shop says "SPEED COST MONEY, HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO!"

A turbo kit is probably going to run in the neighborhood of $3500 up......just depending on the kit that if finally available for our cars....and whether or not YOU install it or pay a REPUTABLE shop to do the work....

to go NA.....you CAN spend just as much money if you wanted to....just would depend on how radical you wanted to go....

its a big choice.....and one that only YOU can make.

Well, luckily I do web work for a freind of mine who owns a performace shop. So I get most all my parts for free or for cost. I have a feeling he will be able to get me the turbo Kit for pretty darn cheap.

I have a feeling I'll go that route. But first things first-exhust. Any advice?

Thanks,
Scott

The exhaust system would depend on whether you go turbo or not. If you went the turbo route, you'd need larger diameter exhaust piping than if you went N/A. Racing Beat has a nice system about to available if you go N/A. If you go turbo, you'll need a custom system 2.5" in diameter or larger depending on the size of the turbo.
