Torque question

Hi guys,

I have a question. I just got my protege LX 5 speed, and I'm interested in either an exhaust or intake. I can only afford one right now. I'm also more interested in torque than hp. whats the best way to get more torque....aside from a turbo? ALso, any suggestions on CAI or short ram intakes ? I've heard that either one doesn't yield any more than a few horses. Is this true ?

aside from messing with internal engine modifications, there isn't much that will yeild just torque rather than hp. the various boltons will help torque some what...Messing with exhaust diameters will give different results as well. In general smaller diameters help with lowend torque and higher diameters will benefit higher rpm power...It obviously is more complicated than that. A good cat back such as the Racing Beat will give a little of both...
