Timing Belt - clear some things up for me...
 

I have read other threads related to this topic but I wanted to clarify and get some opinions moving forward.

The situation: I own a '02 P5. I bought it in Dec. '07 with approx. 52k on it. Due to my line of work I drive quite a bit plus I soon will have about a 22 mile commute (one way). Currently the car has 65k on it. I think replacing the timing belt in the near future would be a good idea, as I often travel to rural parts of MN, WI, ND and IA and as some of you may know in the winter these are not the kind of places you want to get stuck and since I am involved in real estate developement for cell phone towers company's coverage is often poor in these areas. I already did my spark plugs and change the oil regularly.

So based on what I've read here's what I am thinking, I put question marks by things I think might be a little premature but would love your thoughts on.

I would like to get the work done between now and Oct. depending on the kind of mileage I pile on in the next few months.

Must Do's
1. timing belt* (whats the deal with a timing belt kit? it includes two pulleys, is this necessary? quite a bit more expensive for "the kit" instead of just the belt)
2. accessory belts

The Maybe's
3. waterpump?
4. radiator hoses (upper and lower)?
5. thermostat?
6. Valve cover gasket?

The Wish List:
7. Jspec Cams
8. Lightend Pulleys

Any thoughts guys?

i know this is a bit late, but i need to plan for this too, and my research on the forums indicate that the waterpump might as well be replaced at the same time because you have to remove it to access the timing belt. same thing with the accessory belts since they will be removed too.

the timing belt kit usually includes a tensioner. i dont believe its required for the belt replacement as the mazda work manual does not explicitly say to replace it. then again the work manual only gives instructions for inspection of the belt.

not sure about the gaskets or anything else. again sorry this info is late i only started researching this topic myself.
