thermostat prob?
today my heat wouldn't kick in.... everything else is working fine and it just blows cold air. could it be a broken thermostat? if so cool cheap and easy to fix. if not any other idea?
|
Could be the thermostat, does your temp gauge fluctuate when you idle for a while?
Welcome over here, too, by the way...I see you joined a while back actually. |
haha funny story... you know those indoglo gauges that ppl put on and then the needles break.... well yea i broke the fuel and temp gauge so i'm not sure. hopefully getting new gauges by christmas but not sure how to transfer miles to new one or if it's even possible. so in short can't tell on the temp gauge.

Don't feel too bad, I was one of them also ... stupidest thing I ever did to my car. And after I took off the guages I noticed how awesome the gauges look stock, too bad I didn't see that before trying to install the indiglos.

if you have the tachless cluster and need the needles, i can send you my old one for shipping costs only :) definetly would love to get them! i'll pay shipping i and yea the stock black is fine. is there a way to chage the needles? i heard there was but you have to take it apart from the back. pm me about details on the gauges. thanx much. and yea i have the tach ones. mines a 99 lx |
You can't change the needles, they must stay inside the motor otherwise you'll break them again. But you can take them out along with the faces and the motor, and swap them from one cluster to another, that way you can keep your cluster with the right odometer (mileage) reading. PM me if you have any questions on how to do this.

ok well heres an update on my problem. i changed the thermostat and everything... but still not heat...? now i think there might be something knocked loose on the actual switch in the car that is hot cold, but idk how to get those out to take a look at the back of the switch. i really don't wanna pull the whole black part out had unit and all but if i must i guess i can. the orginal problem of no heat i believe started after i took my old head unit out, wired up the new one, which i must have done wrong because it never came on, and the next day no heat. i thought maybe i blew a fuse but have checked all fuses and nothing. i
i took my car to a professional shop to have the new head unit, two amps, and subs installed because i didn't wanna deal with it. they called me and told me the heat wasn't working before they started install. don't wanna pull the whole front because i don't wanna mess up the head unit stuff, but if i must to get to that air temp control for the cabin i will. any suggestions or ideas from there? really would like to get my heat fixed since it's about 30ish degrees here in KC. |
Did you check the flapper door? If the actuator cable comes off (located behind the glovebox) it would cause this.

yea i just found that out on sunday there's a piece broken on of the small brown ones is broken in half. anyone know if it's expensive to fix? or if i could do it myself?
