TEchnically, wouldnt an INtake hurt the engine?

I am just throwing this out there, but isnt it possible for an intake to mess up the A/F mixture and cause damage to the engine?

MC July-21st-2005 07:04 AM

i always thought the mixture was controlled by the reading off the AFM... so since the AFM detects more airflow the mixture is fixed up so it wont lean out....

but yeh... what happens once the AFM is maxed out?? (hows the protege AFM handle the extra air??)

well if all else fails...Z32 AFM it is hehe

And thats why they don't get as good gas milage as other 2.0's with the same bhp?

Roddimus Prime July-21st-2005 12:19 PM

sorta. they are also geared very low to help with torque and acceleration. THATS where the majority of the mileage goes. I'm in 5th gear at 38mph with no problems. That's not typical in my civic I'd have to be in 2n'd to even accelerate. but the honda got 48mph on the interstate cruising at 75mph. (top speed of about 80mph)

Im guessing you mean 48 mpg? Because like.... getting 48mph, while crusing 75 mph, isnt always a good thing...

But yeah I get what you mean, I drove a saab 900 the other day i think it was geared like that or something, because I was shifting at like 2.3K, and when i was getting used to it's clutch it wasnt even coming close to stalling...

Hey Matty did you ever get videos of your WOMPer up?

Roddimus Prime July-21st-2005 02:54 PM

just the one from the dyno pulls and one from the drag strip. thats old school though. I'll have some more once my new head gets in with the rear engine mount and a little more boost.

Bartizek July-21st-2005 03:04 PM

Where are they located?
