Hi, I got a quick question..but may be quite obvious.
I live in the State, I assume it does void the warranty if you change the spark plug to aftermarter? Also, what would be the difference spark plug make if you change from oem to aftermarket? In this case, say I change to Bosch Platinum +4 Thanks |
Your waranty can not be voided by using a replacement part!!! Magnuson Law 1985 I think! If the dealer offers free tuneups which include sparkplug changes, then they have the right to void your waranty!! Ohter then that, if you replace your polugs with repalcenment plugs then you are fine.

Brian, how are those plat 4+ holding out. Better starts? Less hesitation? Better fuel economy? Anything diff. that normal NGK would not have done?
|
The OEM plugs are either NGK's or Denso's, depending on who Mazda was buying plugs from during the week your car was built. Both brands will work fine if you haven't done any mods that will increase cylinder pressure (i.e. forced induction or more static compression). Using colder plugs (larger plug number on Japanese plugs, smaller on U.S. or Euro plugs) will help if you're experiencing detonation or you intend to use nitrous.
Bosch Platinums (+4 or not) are no good IMHO. The teeny little platinum electrode fouls too easily. Ordinary plugs work better, they just have to be replaced more often. Densos only cost ~$1.60 per plug at AutoZone, so who cares? :) |
Plat 4's have no electodes, do they????? At least have no metal at the end to gap! They are manufactured for that specific car. Maybe your thinking of just platinum plugs in general. Please correct me if I am wrong. Just learninnnnnnn myself!! :)

I love my Denso Iridiums. Wouldn't go back to stock copper Densos even if you paid me :p
Seriously, they are great plugs, and if you look, you can find them for around $11/plug on the internet. my 2 sense ;) |
