Spark Plugs for P5
 

Hey...i wanna get some NGK Iridium spark plugs for my P5 but not sure about the part number....somebody said in the msg board that the number for it is BKR5EIX-11....but i checked in the owner's manual and they actually have a part number for NGK and theres 2 part number for the 2.0 liter.....its BKR5EIX-11 and BKR6EIX-11....anyone changed it b4 and know the exact number or is there any difference btw the 2?...i dont wanna screw up my engine!....;) ...if anyone know..pls tell me!..thanks!

Hehe - if you don't want to screw up your engine, use the stock model plugs.

Using irridiums or whatever only makes them last a little longer. You're not going to get any performance improvement from them whatsoever.

Plus, they ain't cheap, so it costs more for nothing.

The plug with the "6" in the parts number is a colder plug.

Colder plugs are more resistant to detonation put will foul more easily, particularly in cold weather and if you do lots of "stop and go" driving.

my opinion, is that the OEM NGK plugs are perfect for the car, under stock conditions and even mildly modified (intake/exhaust). you're not going to see any gains from the spark plugs unless you're planning on running FI or N20. :p

cool...thx!...now maybe i wont be wasting any money on some.....so how bout the spark wires....the sparkco ones...any good?...wut exactly does it do?....

New plug wires are about as useless as "upgraded" plugs.

The stock wires are more than capable of handling the demands of the ignition system. Replacing them is a waste.

All of these "ignition upgrades" do absolutely nothing for an otherwise stock motor. If you changed cams, put in a turbo, ran nitrous, or made other mods, upgrading the plugs and wires would be a must. But running stock, it'll do nothing but empty your wallet.

It's kinda the same thing as installing "better" brakes on the car - they'll do nothing, and might even make things worse. The stock brakes are fine - and there is NO benefit to better brakes without stickier tires first! Just like there is no benefit to an "uprgaded" ignition without other engine mods that require it.

the only thing that the iridium plugs or the wires are going to make faster....is the rate at which your wallet drains....neither will do you any good in your car....at least nothing that you will notice.....stick with the stock replacement plugs.
