Spark Plugs
How long should i wait until i replace the stock spark plugs? Currently i have like 16000km on my 03P5. I was thinking once a year?
Also.. are the stock spark plugs platnum or regular? NGK's platniums or titaniums will be going in when i do change them. |
Recommeded for the P5 is to change the plugs at 30,000 miles for you that would be about 50,000 km's.
I would not bother with the expensive plugs, just use the regular NGK's. Unless you are planning to modify the engine with a turbo or something else, the expensive plugs will be a waste. |
I agree. Stick with regular plugs an save your money. Then get a turbo an the platniums.
|
Go with the platinum or iridium plugs, you will notice a peppier feel... and then you won't have to replace them every 50000kms, just do an inspection. I have been happy with them in the past... really cheap mod to do really.
|
DO NOT use platinums with a turbo. Sharp pointy little tips will create nice hotspots and detonation. They are good for N/A if you want to spend the $$.

I have replaced my stock spark plug wires with a set of aftermarket ones from Sparko and NGK Iridium plugs almost a year ago now.
According to what the spark plug and spark plug wire manufaturer says, I am supposed to get faster startups, increased fuel economy, better trottle response and increased power. I have not felt any of these but am still happy with my switch. I suppose I may be getting and extra 2 or 3 kms out of a tank and I've gained .2 of a hp but this is hardly enough to notice any real difference no matter what my butt-o-meter tells me. |
