sorry

I tried searching, but didn't know what to look for. The P5 threw a CEL yesterday as the car wouldn't idle. It drove normal once underway, but if I stop it dies. My question is what is the box with the shiney sticker on the strut tower behind the fuse box? The two outer red lights flash and the middle green stays on. Thanks for the help.

Update: I think I found my problem, yeah! Something's eating my engine!!! I noticed a wire bundle right on top behind the engine with some scraping, bad. I noticed a rubber elbow connecting to the rear middle of the top engine cover with a #2 pencil sized hole. What the piss is eating my engine? (rehtorical)

Don't ask me why I couldn't figure out it was the PCV valve until I was driving to Checkers. It's the rubber elbow connected to the PCV valve. I'll get one the rest of the engine when the car returns. But I got some generic rubber tube from checkers and it seems to idle good now. Hooray!!

Wow thats very strange!
Any one wanna change the title of the thread to something descriptive.

At first I thought It may have been an acid or something but I have no idea wtf could do that. POssibly an animal but it looks like it got hit with a dremel.
How about a pic of the box on the strut tower, I dont have anything with lights on it.

My wife should be home with the car in an hour or two. When she gets home I'll get a pic up. There are two boxes, one on each tower. The pass side is labeled corrosion control or something, but the driver side is just shiney.

OMG, it looks like something IS eating it! WTF?

Roddimus Prime October-24th-2005 09:56 AM

yeah, that is NOT normal.

i think you have a beaver with a taste for plastic living under your hood. or possibly a lost dinobot hungry for energon goodies. get a trap and put a couple slices of apples & energon goodies in the cage, leave it overnite, and check to see what you've caught in the morning. j/k i dunno whats going on, but keep us updated.

Its easier then that. Just leave the cap off the radiator/ leave some coolent out by the car. Animal love the stuff. So they'll just drink it up untill they die! The car takes care of its self.

here are the rest of the pics. The first one is the mysterious box. Any ideas? The two red lights are still blinking, but the CEL is off now.

Roddimus Prime October-24th-2005 06:32 PM

wow man. I don't know you but I feel for ya. Looks like you've got a cat or rat trying to find warmth in your engine bay.

I think what you have may be something like this: http://www.rust.bizland.com/Auto_Rus...ion/index.html
Word on the street is that electronic corrosion control is worthless in automotive applications, but I haven't really read that much about it.

meGrimlock October-24th-2005 07:53 PM

hook up a low-voltage, hi-current generator to sheet metal on your car and watch the smoking animals drop from under your car. j/k ^_^ if anybody from peta read that please dont bomb me and tell people that you werent involved in it.
