A slight shake, after engaging the clutch...?
I have a 2003 Protege ES - currently 7800kms.
When in stop n'go traffic, if I take off in 1st and have to slow down almost immediately afterward, pressing down the clutch before I stop results in a slight shake of something or other in the drivetrain - I'm not sure what it is, though I've been told it could just be the engine rocking back, which is supposedly normal. Any insight for me here?? |
sounds like our crummy motor mounts...

It doesn't happen all the time -- It depends on what speed I'm travelling at, and seems to occur less, if at all, in the other gears..... Also, a friend of mine who has a P5, has also mentioned this. He has much higher mileage than me also. |
"Technical Service Bulletin" Sort of a "hey you Mazda Mechanics be advised, this is a problem, here is a possible solution/fix/cure."
It does not automatically mean "Everybody gets a new free clutch" though. |
my clutch only chatters first thing in the morning when the car isn't warmed up.....dealer said there was no problem. I gave them the finger and told them my next car would cost $40K and WOULDN'T be a mazda.

Can it f-ck up my clutch/drivetrain if I don't get it checked out?
Is this normal on all Proteges, or at least those of a specific model year...? Where can I check out the TSBs? |
sounds to me like what roddimus said, weak stock motor mounts. if and when you get aftermarket mounts, even the softest ones, you will notice how sloppy the stock mounts were.
