The only options we have are:
1) TURBO........... 2) Change TORQUE CONVERTER Level Ten can machine our TORQUE CONVERTERS for higher stall but I would also add external cooling and would change the clutch plates and bands. Level Ten |
I've heard nothing but good things about Tevel Ten's products.

I have just a K+N drop in filter now. I notice that the motor seems to get to the higher RPMs with a little less effort (damn engine don't like to rev!!). The next step I would do is either a performance axleback muffler or catback exhaust system (hate to change these until the originals rot out, though). This would probably add 3-6HP, tops. A few more ponies would be realized by adding a cold-air intake. Pefrormance gains on this 2.0 engine seem to take a lot of money and mods. Theres a lady who posts here (Karen, I think) who is putting an extra 20 HP and about 20 more ft-lbs to the wheels, but she has her own "crew" who have made extensive mods, including headers and such. If you can add about 7 ponies/ft-lbs. to your car without breaking the bank, you are ahead of the game. The K+N is cheap, and lets less dirt in your engine. It also seems to give you about 1 extra MPG, fuel-wise. YAY!!

if you're hoping for it to rot out, then you'll be sitting around waiting for quite a long time
just like warranty, people worry about it too much... "i'll wait for my warranty to run out before I...." what's the difference? wait 3 years... a normal stock car with warranty... 3 years later... faster car without warranty... ok... since the warranty will be gone regardless of when you do it anyway, why not slap on that turbo NOW? if you're thinking cars, and car modifications are investments and you want to be "economically practical" about it (like waiting for warranty to run out, or something to "wear out" before upgrading), I suggest: a) find another hobby b) take an economics class Originally posted by JoeT I have just a K+N drop in filter now. TheMAN,
That's not nice. What's with the attitude? |
b/c me THEMAN can afford to fix his car when he voids the warranty and problems occur
|
if you perform the modifications carefully and correctly, nothing will break
do stupid things, and it will Originally posted by walight01 b/c me THEMAN can afford to fix his car when he voids the warranty and problems occur |
buy i didn't that the the mods if what caused the problem, i just said it voided the warrantee for when other things break.
|
are there any aftermarket radiators for our cars?
I've seen some for other cars in the Summit Catalog. |
and that wouldn't matter, according to law

Eds right, if you bolt on a turbo, dial it in to 17psi without any internal modifications, or any ecu work etc, and grenade your engine, your dealer might have a problem replacing some things. But if you do some modifications (like a turbo) and your rear strut starts squeeking or your trunk rattles the dealer can't say "well your fucked becuase you put a turbo on it" There are laws stating that the it must be proved that any modifications you did to the car caused the warrantied item to fail.
If you want to do it, do it...If you are smart about the modifications you perform and do them properly you wont have problems. They don't sell items that will "break" your car and cause problems with warranties (at least most don't, but thats what the fuck this forum is for). |
