Side engine mounts

Today was relatively nice so I decided to finally install my AWR side engine mount inserts. Driver's side went on without any problem, however when I removed the passenger side mount I found it was partly torn. I was also unable to get it apart so had to force the inner insert on over it, ripping it a little in the process. I know many people have had trouble with the front and rear mounts tearing, but I haven't seen anything about the side mounts. I looked at my gf's '99 and hers is torn too. Anyone have any idea how much a new one would be? I may check my local auto parts source to see if there are any aftermarket parts.

Just had a short drive after the install but it seems that with the addition of the two sets of side inserts some of the idle vibration I experienced with just the front and rear AWR mounts (softest ones they offer) is gone. Of course it could have been I was getting the vibration because of the torn mount.

So do you think they helped at all? I've been considering them since they came out but was yet to really see anybody who had them...

Like I said, I have only driven a short way since putting them in. They seemed to help, I'll post again once I have the chance to evaluate further.

The inserts aren't that expensive and if you have the others I would get them. You should know the mount on the passenger's side is difficult, I don't know if the two pieces are supposed to come apart but mine wouldn't. I also would not have been able to remove the mount nuts on the engine without my impact wrench (you have to remove the whole mount). The one on the driver's side is much easier.

Funny, I just took my side mount inserts out because at idle, with the AWR front, RR rear inserts and the AWR side inserts, the car shakes like a dog sh**ting a peach pit. Seems better without the side inserts, but still too much vibration at idle. I just order some 70 durometer bushings from AWR to see if that helps. If so, my side inserts will be available cheap.

I originally got the auto mounts (88 durometer?) but after reading numerous threads about the vibration, I ordered their 70 durometer and changed them out before installing the front/rear mounts. There is more vibration at idle than stock, but that is it. I can deal with that so I don't have to worry about tearing a mount and smashing up something else when the engine moves. If you do sell your side mounts let me know, I might be interested as I want to replace the passenger side one on mine when/if I replace the stock mount.

I'll keep you posted. I just ordered the 70s, so it may be a few days.

Hey guys. I put the front and side mounts in my car a few weeks ago. They helped alot. As far as the passanger side mount, yea mine was torn to hell. Along with the front mount. I looked at 2 of my friends mounts (p5 and a speed) and both of theirs were torn also. It's the wheel hopin that kills them. I have noticed a decrease in the wheel hop after the inserts. No if you launch to hard it will hop but not near as bad. I got lucky too. I went to go buy a new one and the parts guy said it was 165.00. The my buddy said shouldn't it be covered? And sure enough it was. They wanted me to put it back on the car and drop it off for a day. But I got them to just exchange the part and I walked out saving 165 buck!
