Short Shifter Rattle

I've got the Kartboy short shifter and bushings installed on my P5. The kit is fantastic, I love the feel and the install was nice and simple. Over the fall, the kit worked great, no problems, but now that it's dropped into the 20's at night, when I drive my car in the morning to work, the stick rattles in 5th. I checked the clearance and I have about an inch of clearance between the heat shield and the bottom of the shifter, so the rattle must be coming from the ball socket on the lever. Once the car warms up, there's no problem. Has anyone else had this problem with their short shifter? Is there any way to correct this? I was thinking about packing a ton of grease in there to see if that helps, but it's pretty well greased already....anyhow, any help would be appreciated.

i had a rattle with both my pacesetter and msp shifter....I removed the heat shield and no rattles. The heat shield is worthless for the most part.

would the engine heat warm the bushings making them expand?

i dont even know if bushings are rubber or not, just a thought.
