Rattling noise
 

i just got a 2000 Mazda protege lx sedan.....and it is exelent cept one thing....at about 4-6 g's rpms i here a loud rattling....anyone know what this is?

A little more descriptive info would be helpful.

well it sounds like its coming from the cat. converter if that helps

sheilding posibly, look under your car and see if your belly didnt hit something and damage a metal component or metal shielding

could that be my problem also?

loud clanking around timing belt... not a rythmic clanking.. seems to go on and off

I had a similar rattle when I first got my 02 es sedan... at 3500 it would rattle. My problem was lucky...just a loose exhaust...nothing some tightening of bolts didn't cure. ...maybe your problem too?

well... right from the start.. exacly when the motor starts it clanks.like it idle... a clnk. clnk.clnk.clnk.................................... ...clank. clank clank....... clank clank clank clank........... clank clank....... after a while of that, the oil gets warmer.. and a second clanking starts and the first begins to fade... (i know oil pump is going on me)

call me in idiot but i think that could be a problem... probably. maybe. possibly,
