Question about clutch

How far should the pedal be down before the clutch engages/disengages? Mine is about 3/4 of the way down.. going to check fluid levels tonight... if i can figure out how!

Besides fluids, it also depends on the mileage / habits. I've read somewhere that a dying clutch disengages really high up ( pedal touch ). Check the fluids tho, as I had to top my brake fluid once at about 45,000 KM.

it's an aftermarket clutch (ACT), been in the car about 30k.

You would really have to beat on it (or be a crappy driver) to wear out an ACT after only 30k miles. That said, if it feels like it's catching higher than when new, I'd check it out.
Do you ride it a lot in traffic, or hang it on hills when you are stopped? That would wear it a lot faster.
I've beat on mine fairly hard, but my last car I put 120k on it and never even had to adjust it (stock clutch).

sneaking this last post in :) ---- the pedal is 3/4 of the way to the floor when it engages... i thought it is supposed to engage before the pedal is 1/2 way...? ... or.. i have it pressed to floor, i barely let clutch up and its catching.... been a while since ive had a manual... last was a '88 mustang / '86 toyota p/u - so.. probably just flipp'n over nothing... but i'd rather catch someone early than too late.... ok no more post from work... :)

my act in the p5 is like that...when i drive the mp3 (which engages MUCH higher) i rev the crap out of it.

I just had my clucth replaced at the mazda dealer 10k ago. and I only press the pedal in about 2-3 inchs and it ingages.

I would go have it checked. I don't think we have a clutch booster do we? If so it might be low.

My 2009 clutchhas 1" play on top, 3" from firewall to engage, This creates difficultytaking off smoothely. On the plus side, this creates a "hole" shot"I always fly out of the lane , most people cant stay with me. But if a keep this car I willdefinitely get a quality clutch plate with distinct engage and disengagement
