Procharger Kit

I found this last night, http://www.procharger.com/SPORT_COMP..._compact.shtml
scoll down univeral kit, i found a company that carries it and emailed them for a price, seems pretty striaght forward, you have to make amounting bracket for it(remove power steering) and the new c-1a supercharger is independent, it has its own oil, what do yall think of this as a good project.. be easier than a turbo setup and prolly cost less..

Womp

Or you could talk to roddimus about the WOMP supercharger.

Yeah I would talk to Roddimus about the Womp first, unless you know someone who already has the Procharger. I think this came up once before but I am not sure.

I'm a HUGE Procharger fan. I think they have the best blowers on the market but they are serious coin. When I started designing a blower for the protege I spoke with Procharger in-depth about their product and they were very rude and ininterested in supporting the protege market. Just FYI, the headunit you get in that kit costs $2100 alone...Not to mention all of the other accessories you'll need.

Just to give you an idea of what it costs to fabricate your own kits from scratch...I've spent almost $5K on everything I've done so far and I got all of the brackets and pulleys mocked up for free (thanks DaveB). Saved me a lot of money.

1.6l pros have no other option really.
And instead of waiting untill 3k rpm for a turbo to spool up a supercharger should be much more predictable in this boost happy engine.

Couldn't we get a supercharger that doesnt requrire the removal of the power steering or AC. Possibly using a stronger belt.
Theres this one crazy SC kit that hondas get where the Sc is at the end of a shaft thats attatched to the belt so space is not a problem anymore.

Roddimus Prime March-19th-2005 01:30 PM

zerocover...spacing and blower placement isn't the problem with keeping/losing the ac/ps. There are MANY more factors invovled in designing your own FI kit. I promise you guys I didn't skimp out on anything. If I could've made a kit that kept the AC/PS and still been cost effective I would've done it.

also, when you look at centrifugal blowers dont expect to have a lot of boost at 3K rpms. While it will build instant boost it won't build much instant boost. However I think one great thing you guys have going for you on the 1.6L engine is that the block is bulletproof and can handle a lot of PEAK boost. What this means is you'll have more boost at half yoru rpm range than I'll have at redline. This is a big plus.

If anyone wants to loan me their zm car and that procharger kit I'll be more than happy to build you a blower.

i was lookin at the womp kit, but that is for the 2.0, not the 1.6l , i am just tryin to find my options....

and if you want power steering back, just go order a electric ps pump from the rx8..

hahaha, you obviously have more money then sense!! Now, when you build something one-off for yourself you can do whatever you want and spend as much as you want.

good luck in your venture
