hey man really .........i had those platinum plugs in my p5 and they really screwed things up.........i actually lost horsepower and my pistons were being etched.........like burning a hole in them.......the friend that i have works at a mazda dealership as a mechanic and he looked at it and they were messing everything up....engine would idle bad, sometimes stall, run shitty.....loss of gas mileage..........when he took the plugs out they looked like they had been sitting in a fire....they were all burnt and shit..........i went with the ngk irridium and have had nothing but good results......there a little expensive but well worth it...anyways man its your car....just thought i would let you know what happened to mine..............

If NGK's are good for turbo'd Hondas, Dodge, and others, then it should be fine for a stock Pro.. specially since it came with NGKs.

not quite, alot of tuner shops that i know that deal mostly with civics(only b/c the kids come in with alot of cash) and mr2's and supra's say that the ngk are what to run in a turbo/N20 car, but in a N/A car, you should run the bosch plugs. there is no dyno test on any of there plugs other than factory, i just had bad experience with the stock ngk plugs. i wish someone had a dyno and alittle cash and could go buy alot of plugs and dyno them all so we could set the record straight.

what type of problems did you have with those plugs?

b_real45 Mar 27, 2003 09:19 PM

The most common problems with people and plugs are:

1.) They don't know what the codes mean.. and buy the wrong plugs.

2.) Wrong gapping.

NGKs have never given me any problems with any cars I've owned or have dealt with. I've turbo charged 3 cars and they all use NGKs with no problems. I've had NA cars and now a Talon TSi turbo and they've all used NGK.. no problems.

i bought the car brand new with 3 miles on it, and around 4 months later, i had 10K miles on it b/c i had to commute to school and i started getting crap gas milage. i pulled the plugs and they looked like charcoal, they were horrible. i've just always had good experience with the boshe plugs and thats why i switched. also i don't ever have to buy new plugs as wells. if my +4 goes bad, they give me a new one. the reason turbo/N20 cars use the ngk plugs is b/c you buy different temp rated plugs and with the bosch you can't.

edit: i'm not saying that ngk plugs suck, i'm just saying the set i got did.
edit 2:i have 70k miles on my car now and i pulled the +4s and they still look new.
