Outlaw Engineering Intake Spacer Install

:red:

i attempted to install the 'Outlaw Engineering' thermal spacers for the intake manifold and throttlebody...

Why i failed:
- How do you get the EGR pipe off the manifold? Crowsfoot? It ain;t budging - all i have is a crescent wrench (me=knob!) to fit it... Tell me what tool to buy!

- How do I get at the three bottom bolts holding the manifold to the head/block? I can get the middle one - but the end ones?!

- WHY do i have to take the sparkplug wires/harness off?

- Note: You don't need to take the fuel rail bleed-down and off - it will swing out of the way...

-??! How do i rig the throttle body so it is closed after installation of the spacers relocate the throttle body?

HHHAALPPP!

First impression:
This ain't no easy/backyard task! I would not recommend attempting yourself. I am an 'advanced' shadetree mechanic (the crescent wrench notwithstanding! ;) )

you'll have to asjust the throttle cable to allow it to reutrn to closed
as for the other intake botls the only way i can see to get to them is with and extension from behind (and maybe below)

Yup. I do have to adjust... Uh, *how* is the question...

Racing Beat August-30th-2004 11:49 AM

hrm....isnt there a threaded collar on it? or at the gas pedal attachment there "should" be an adjuster...or have you tried to reroute and re mount the cabel to close the butterfly that way (last ditch effort mind you)

Where the cable meets the TB - you can see a white 'lock' that you slide (down?) to unlock the adjustment. You can see a spring-loaded collar and a white painted stripe that they rig to. How do you move the collar to allow it to turn and adjust the cable length? With the white tab down - there was no 'easy/obvious way to move the collar or turn the black cable assy... I resisted the urge to grab the channel locks... ;)
