new O2 sensor, need assistance

I needed to buy a new O2 sensor for my protege but i dont know if i should install it myself or bring it to my mechanic. Does anybody know to install the second O2 sensor (after the cat) on our cars? I believe there's no wire splicing but i could be wrong... I just want to make shure it's just switch and plug in... Any reconmendations anyone?

also it came with this thermal grease looking thing that looks like copper... wtf is that ?

just unplug the connector and then use a set of channel locks to unscrew the old o2 sensor....apply the grease to the threads of the new o2 sensor and screw it back in, then reconnect it.
