The Apex-i site should have wiring instructions. It also should have come with them unless you bought it used.
Once you get it hooked up, it is a necessity to get it tuned on a dyno. If this thing works, it will solve a big ongoing issue about whether it will work on our cars or not. Good luck. |
The S-AFC will most likely work on the protege 2.0L, etc. However, the problem is not in whether it will work or not, it is where to plug them in at. We have S-AFCs at the shop, and the other day I got bored and started investigating as to which pins on the ECU went to what. If you can figure out all the necessary pins, you should be ok..I only found the o2 sensor and that took a while as it was, so I gave up. Also, keep in mind that the S-AFC really won't benefit a stock motor that much. They are good for highly built NA or for mildly modified boosted cars who need richer cycles on their injectors...
*Also, the S-AFC booklet is Jspec and does not include diagrams of Aspec ECUs...AKA...the proteges... |

The S-AFC is a fuel computer and can lean or richen the mixture..its a tuning device and you can use it however you would like. From what I understand the proteges also come rich from the factory at higher RPMs, so I guess you could see about a 3 to 4 HP gain if you lean it out a bit over 4500RPM...its not worth the money spent on it though....

mazdaspeed45 have you installed the SAFC yet?
If so how did it go can you notice any difference, do you think it was worth it? |
