MSP engine question
aside from the turbo is the Msp engine just the same as a 2.0L protege? or does the msp have different pistons, cams etc? reason i am asking is because there's this used msp at my local dealer and ive been itching to go turbo for the longest time now. i have a pro5 by the way and im wondering if it's better to start modding a msp engine instead of a p5 one.

the engines are identical....in all honesty it's better to stick with the regular p5 and buy an aftermarket turbo for more power... if you'd like better handling AND some extra power the MSP is the way to go but there is a much lower power ceiling with the msp.

Roddimus.. You sure about that?? I was pretty sure that p5's run 10:1 compression where as my msp runs 9:1...

i'm positive, I've owned:
MSP P5 M3S RX8 RX7. they are identical engines. |
I knew they were same engine name FS... but I coulda sworn I saw our compression was lower.. hmmmmmm ahh okay just searched google.. they're both 9:1

I was trying to explain this same concept to the hubby just last night! Perhaps I need to show him this post. He really must love me though (even though I drive slow POSs) because he spent $10 on nuts and bolts for me :bt: |
Scott doesn't trust me? or you?...$10 for nuts and bolts is nothing. The bolts for my supercharger kits are about $7 a piece and there's 9 of them. Quality costs money!

LOL, me! My header bolts are in pretty bad shape (one is sheared off) so we're replacing them. Plus we got new yellow silicon adapters for the intake and new clamps too...not those cheepie POSs. :bt: |
very nice!

WAY OT, but I pick the RX8 up saturday morning....haven't gotten it yet...but close enough.

How about this all inclusive statement...ALL North American 3rd Gen Protege's have 9.0 to 1 compression...Period....Read the FAQ
