MP3 Racing Beat Exhaust...

Does anyone know if the Racing Beat Exhaust system that comes on a MP3 will fit on a 2002 ES Sedan?
I did a search and can not find the answer. Is there any difference other than the muffler part verses the stock system on the 2002 ES? One of the members here is selling his MP3 exhaust due to getting a turbo, hence new exhaust and I was wondering if that would be an upgrade to what I currently have.

It should bolt right on but may look a little funny cause the MP3 has a rear lip spoiler which the exhaust is made to clear. But you never know. It may look just fine. Try it.

Here is the email conversation I had with Jim Langer at Racing Beat about the exhaust.

Will the Racing Beat Exhaust system that comes on a Mazda MP3 fit on a 2002 ES Sedan?

"No. The MP3 exhaust is nothing more than a replacement muffler. Even if you wanted to place this on your car, the fit for this muffler has been designed to fit with the valance on the MP3 and will no fit your car correctly."

I guess Im confused as to why the exhaust system wont fit since its the same chassie, same engine. I always "thought" the Mazda MP3 just had upgraded suspension, exhaust, bodykit and a few other doo dads.

"The rear valance on the MP3 required that the muffler tip be positioned further outward and downward. If you placed the MP3 muffler on your car it will fit, but it will look "odd".

So with some modification it could work.

MP3 muffler

I have this muffler on my car- an '01 lx. It does not fit perfectly, but it still looks good- a lot better than stock. At first I thought it looked a little ricey, but several people who are not fans of the riceboy style said it looks fine.

A good reason to purchase this muffler over other axle back options is the noise level. It is not annoying at highway speeds as the Mazdaspeed axle-back is reputed to be.

I plan to buy the full cat back system from Racing Beat next spring. This was just a lower cost intermediate option that I thought might add a little power as well as better sound. If it did add power, it isn't noticeable. The sound is a little louder, and adds some base to the already loud intake I have.
