Mod Chips for the P5
Sorry, I am a real P5 newbie but I keep hearing about mod chips that give you car extra power by sending a message that the engine is running a few degrees colder. Obviously, the compensation would pump out more power but is this a load of bull?
Does it actually work? Is it bad for the car? Just what heck is this thing? |
if you're talking about those things listed on eBay, it's all BULLSHIT
|
Yea, I saw those ones too but I have seen them in local shops around town.
But thanks for the tip. |
Ya.....if you "trick" the engine into thinking the air is colder...that will not do anything. However there are such things as performance chips that increase air/fule mixture and flow that do add power. I havent heard of any for the protege....but if anyone else has id like to know where. They are usually some cheap power.

I don't know how true this is, but I was talking to the parts guy at my closest Mazda dealer and he says that his supplier told him that he was expecting performance chips in either this October or November. This is a supplier he gets his CAI's and Exhaust from, but I have not been able to validate any of this info.

Well if its true, then let all us know okay!
