mazdaspeed exhaust
hi i have a 2000 1.6 liter dx protoge and i was wondering if a mazdaspeed exhaust muffler made for the pro5 will fit on it?? thanks
|
The one for the P5 will not, it is too short.
But the one for the sedan might. Just not sure if the 1.6 uses the same muffler hooks and flange. |
No it wont fit cause the P5 is shorter.
There is a mazdaspeed exhaust for the sedans though. I have it on my car. If you want pictures, just say the word. edit: I guess Raptor beat me to the answer, sorry about the double post. There was no answer when I started typing. |
hi can i see some pics?? thanks

I know for sure I saw some 99-00 Proteges with it on this board. Im just not sure if they had the 1.8 or the 1.6. |
Just red "X"s there SedanMan...

They work for me and are located in this imagestation album

If you do plan on long trips, you might want to think about it twice. It looks good and and sound great for city driving (low rumble) but when I go on the highway, I usually leave the window open so I hear the wind instead of the muffler(constant droning sound). As for power, I didnt notice much. Apparently it adds 3-5 whp(someone on this board dynoed it) on top of what you get with a good intake. Oh and people telling you to turn the sound system up so as to not hear the muffler at highway speeds are obviously going to go deaf at an early age. Let me know what you think of it when you get it. |
The exhaust from a 01+ sedan will only fit if your 2000 Pro was originally purchased in New York or California. Cars sold in the other 48 states used a single cat attached to the exhaust manifold and a 1-piece exhaust system after the downpipe; NY/Cali cars used a 2-piece exhaust system incorporating a 2nd cat to meet ULEV emissions standards. In 2001, Mazda installed the 2nd cat and corresponding 2-piece exhaust system on all U.S.-market Proteges.
All "cat-back" systems designed to fit a 2001+ Protege replace the second piece of the exhaust system only. In order to install one on a 99-00 "48-state" car, you will need to fabricate a custom pipe to connect the stock downpipe to the 01+ rear section. Most muffler shops should be able to do it for a small fee. |

a mazdaspeed exhaust here in hawaii from my mazda dealership will cost me 286 bucks. i went to mazdastuff.com and was gonna order the same one for 255 but i emailed them and they said that it won't fit on my 2000 1.6 liter protoge. totally sucks.
