Mazda chip/ecu?

i was talking to the dealer from which i ordered my car about mods, he was like, oh yea we have intake (racing beat i think), exhaust (mazdaspeed i think), and chip, does anyone know anything about this so called chip? does it exist? ( i mean it must, the dealer said they had them) but does anyone acctually know or have one? On a side note, are there any aftermarket ones? thanks :yumyum:

I tried a search and couldn't find what I was looking for. The speed dealer here in town told me there is a chip. he says that they put it on the ES they did the MP3 conversion on. I have been wanderin the same thing for a while now.

The only chip I know of is the MP3 ecu which is slightly better than the stock protege ecu. But it also costs 1000$ for about 10hp.

there is no "chip" for this car you would have to replace the whole ECU, (no piggybacking allowed) read more on the FAQ page.

Making a piggy back can be done, but your car would run well one minute and the next time it would run like shit.

That is because the computer of the car is trying to reset itself.

The dealer was blowing smoke up your ass...I have learned not trust anyone from the dealership unless I know them personally...

They will do anything to sell a car...like telling you that our cars have VTEC er sumthin...

that's not true.

personally, i don't believe a "piggyback" will affect the tuning parameters at all. i hope someone can prove me wrong. i have personal experinece with a piggyback and i gained zip.

What I am saying. A piggy back can work with our cars, but being that our ECU are obdII (something like that) The piggy back will not take effect. The ECU will over ride the piggy back. Thats why I would save up and go stand alone.

JET?

It's also possible to do a flash reprogramming. Although the "chip" is not physically replaced, people often refer to reprogramming the ECU as a "chip". IIRC, JET offered this service for the Protege, but you had to ship them your ECU.
