Limited slip from Phantom Grip

Anyone know anything about phantom grip's LSD? How does it compare to the Quaife LSD mazdamotorsports sells? The phantom grip model is applicable to "ALL" mazdas with a 1.8L engine. I'm guessing they'll need to do 'some' custom work for the LSD to fit the 1.8L proteges.

It's designed more for hooking both wheels together while accelerating than going around corners. It works well for straight line acceleration and still lets the diff work going around a corner but it's not designed for handling or a road course. It's basically a streetable 'detroit locker'. It's the cheap way to get both wheels to turn when you launch. Marketed more towards the stoplight to stoplight set.

can you please give some data to back up your claim?

What Traveler said about the Quaife and Phantom Grip is exactly correct. First off, the Quaife is a complete differential. It is torque biasing, which is what helps handling and not just straight line traction. Torque biasing means the differential smoothly shifts power to the wheel with the most grip. Around a corner that's the outside wheel, which allows you to accellerate earlier and harder out of a turn without wheelspin and understeer. The Phatom Grip piece is made of two plates separated by springs that install in your existing differential. For more information look at their websites.
