light weight flywheel
 

Is anyone here using a lightwheel flywheel? I had one on my former car (94 prelude vtec) and it did not seem to make much of a difference in terms of my times. If anyone is using one here I would like to hear your reactions to them on your pros.

I've got a 9lbs aluminum flywheel & Clutch Masters stage 1 clutch now, but I'm waiting for the Quaife LSD to get everything installed at the same time. My '00 ES 1.8L FP engine comes with a 15lbs stock flywheel, so I'm not sure how noticable it will be. I expect it to allow the engine to rev faster, and produce a few extra HP & ft/lbs across the RPM range.

um, I think the flywheel's suppose to give you a little more lift on the higher end, not all over the place.

By 'lift', I assume you mean power? Why do you think that? I can't say for certain because I haven't dynoed my car before and after the install of the aluminum flywheel yet, but reducing weight in the engines rotating assembly should allow it to increase RPM more rapidly, and free up a small amount of HP and torque that were previously used to rotate the extra weight. That would mean a small power gain across the entire RPM range, similar to an underdrive pulley. I would also guess this would be more noticable at the lower RPM range since the percentage of increased power would be highest there. Please give some kind of explaination when you present a theory.
