K&N Filters for Mazdaspeed Protege
|
I need a dryflow this much: |-------------------------------:)------------------------------|
yeah that's a lot. the first link is dead, are you talking about this really-expensive-wth-this-makes-no-sense K&N filter? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku I gotta get a shield or somethin if I get the dryflow though.. my filter gets crazy dirty with the gaping hole in my hood and all. |
yah, that was one of them in the comparison, i was look @ the $26 / $42 / $53 / $85
original i looked @ K&N - $42) dryflow better than K&N? thought K&N was like.. the best. or something. |
Well k&n sure is .. oily?
I'm using an injen right now (same concept as the K&N, I even use the K&N recharge kit to clean/oil it) and it seems to work ok. There are plenty of cars that have check engine light issues with K&N filters because the oil gets all up in your intake and on the MAF. I know I've over-oiled the filter a few times no problem, though I guess it helps that I relocated my MAF so that oily residue has to travel through the turbo compressor first. |
ahh.. gotcha. think i read some stuff on that somewhere. I had a K&N on my atv i used to have, was oily indeed. think i might try the AEM
|
the absolute best air filter you can get for any car is the Apexi powerflow. It's a dry filter like the AEM but it flows better than most everything on the market.
The K&N flows more but requires oil to keep the air clean. Too much oil and it can damage the MAF hotwire. If you use the right amount you won't have any problems and when you clean your filter just use a little MAF cleaner and spray off the wire....problem solved. If you want my apexi you'll need an adapter from ebay and about $100 for me. Or you can get a $50 K&N and a $9 recharge kit when it needs cleaning (every month or so.) |

thats a 2.75" inlet diameter....you need 2.25" You'll have a hard time making that air tight without a reducer.
|
hmm. shouldnt a 2.75" fit if I measured the intlet of the MAF @ 2.75"?
guess i'll find out today, its out for delivery :) |
i thought you said the MAF was 2.25".....thats what I recalled them being
|
no, MAF measured 2.75 :) - unless i mistyped somewhere, thats possible.
