Just got my Ractive CAI

... and i must say the sound from it is great! The sucking (hissing) sound is awsome and in 2nd gear it sounds the best.

Is this a Ractive short ram with a heat shield filter and the CAI extension kit, or has Toucan Industries produced a full CAI for the Protege now?

sweet, I just got back from (White Rock) Mazda I think its called Middway, anyway, where did you get your's and for how much....I'm trying to find a good deal on one...

Thanks

I purchased it at Signature Mazda at the Richmond automall. Just say you're from the protege club and you'll get a discount cuz they're a sponsor. Got it for $100 + installation. Regulat price is $139.

Next mod is some sort of cat back exhaust system. The hks hiper full catback looks nice tho.

I guess you got the shorty considering the price. $100 is pretty good, especially considering it's canadian peso ;) . Did you notice an appreciable gain in power from the butt dyno or was it just all sound? How about heat soak? Any knocking during hot weather? I was hoping to save up for the Bell Engineering turbo kit but can't stand the lack of power as it is right now.

Thanks Noodles, I got an apointment on Saturday to get it installed. I think the guy said I can get it for 130 + installation cost (that's should be 30 dolars). So total will come to 160 before tax, still better than 200 dollars

noodles August-13th-2002 09:01 AM

Ya, 130 isn't bad, but make sure you talk to the east indian parts guy, he's cool, forgot his name, and tell him you're in the Vancouver Protege Club, ( yes they have a different WEbsite - Canadian Protege Club - Vancouver/Toronto .. and you should get what they call a triple discount :P

As far as gains go, well, very hard to tell, but i can tell you that they're install job was excellent, no knocking sound, and the sound is definiately awesome. When you rev it up it sounds sweet and when you shut down it makes this cool hissing sound.

Do they sell ractive intakes in the US? Can someone post a link to a site that does and has them for the 2002 pr5?

I called signature mazda in Richmond, BC (since others get them there) and they won't ship them to the US due to customs and tariffs and i'm not spending $100 more for the AEM name on the same equipment
